Plymouth improved to 2-0 with a 7-6 triumph over perennially strong Tecumseh, which nearly overcame a 7-3 seventh-inning deficit.
Smith notched the win after yielding 10 hits and one walk. She struck out two Indians.
Offensively, the Wildcats were sparked by Heldmeyer (2-for-4, two doubles), Rodes (2-for-3, three runs), Stacey Klonowski (2-for-4, triple), Burnard (2-for-3, three RBI, triple) and Jill Brennan, who went 2-for-4 with two ribbies.
The Wildcats bounced Brighton, 10-0, in game three, thanks to two-hit efforts from Rodes, Heldmeyer, Klonowski, Pattison and Jessica Bondy. Klonowski scored three runs and drove home a pair with a triple. Smith and Miranda Oliver combined on the four-hit shutout.

Plymouth warmed up for the Canton Classic by sweeping a double-header from South Lyon East, 14-1 and 15-1. Both games were called after five innings due to the MHSAA mercy rule.
Smith tossed a three-hitter in game one before Oliver followed suit in the nightcap when she allowed just four safeties.
Five Wildcats enjoyed big days at the plate in game one: Rodes (3-for-4, three runs), Heldmeyer (3-for-3, double), Klonowski (3-for-3, four runs, four RBI), Burnard (3-for-3, three runs, two RBI) and Pattison, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Pacing the Wildcats' 16-hit attack in game two were Heldmeyer (3-for-4, three RBI), Klonowski (3-for-4, three runs, four RBI, home run), Burnard (2-for-4, two runs, two RBI), Brennan (3-for-4), Tessa Heldmeyer (2-for-4, two runs) and Oliver, who went 1-for-3.

On Monday, Plymouth dropped a 7-4 decision at Canton. The Chiefs jumped out to a 5-1 lead after five innings by scoring one run in the first and two in the second and fifth. The ‘Cats rallied to within 5-4 with a three-spot in the top of the sixth, but Canton countered with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame.
Canton outhit Plymouth, 13-8. Smith suffered the loss, striking out one and walking one. Heldmeyer and Burnard both went 2-for-4.

Plymouth rebounded from the setback two days later when it pounded Livonia Churchill, 9-0. Smith hurled a six-hitter, striking out two Chargers. Bondy (3-for-3, three runs), Klonowski (2-for-4, two RBI), Burnard (2-for-3, three RBI, triple), Brennan (2-for-3) and Pattison (triple) led the Wildcats' offensive attack.
[South Lyon - 5/14/2009]
The Wildcats edged South Lyon, 3-2, in the opening game of Thursday's twinbill before falling in the nightcap, 5-4.
Smith struck out a career-high seven in the game-one triumph as the Wildcats overcome four errors thanks to strong hitting from Burnard (3-for-3, two RBI) and Blassic, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI triple.
The Lions overcame a 4-1 deficit with four seventh-inning runs to avoid getting swept.
“We committed eight errors in the double-header, which is unacceptable,” said Canfield. “I don't know if it was fatigue or what, but we can't do that in the playoffs and expect to win.”
The bright spot in the loss was Heldmeyer, who went 4-for-4 with three two-base hits.
